PalmSource’s CEO thinks Linux is where they’re headed

We were all abuzz before because we thought maybe with palmOne looking to make the Treo a Smartphone, perhaps PalmSource was on the way to selling out to or merging with Microsoft and their Windows Mobile platform. Of course, that doesn’t seem to be the case now, as in an interview with IDG, PalmSource CEO David Nagel said, “we saw a lot of benefits in using Linux as a foundation for our future offerings.” Take that to mean what you will, but he and PalmSource obviously seem hell-bent at this point on rewriting Palm OS to run on Linux (not unlike Apple rewriting Mac OS on BSD) and you know us; we’re not exactly the types to complain about the idea of making our Treos a little more Linux-stable, dig?
